Cozzi Cove: Happy Endings

The romantic, intriguing adventures of New Jersey shore guest house owner, Cal Cozzi, and his husband, Michael, continue with "Cozzi Cove: Happy Endings," the fifth volume in this highly entertaining, immensely enjoyable series from author Joe Cosentino.

The colorful guest list at Cozzi Cove includes Gilead, a professional matchmaker who swears by his formula for finding love, and his clients: Matt, a retired Marine; Luis, an aspiring author; and Keone, a recent transplant from Hawaii. These gentlemen are joined by Nyx Oberon, an avid environmentalist, and Kurt, a mysterious stranger with an animal-like appearance.

The arrival of these romance-seekers coincides with a surprise visit from real estate developer Kevin, Cal's high school friend and unforgettable first crush, whose employer makes an offer for Cozzi Cove that Cal may not be able to refuse. Throw in two new employees - hunky nudist houseboy Carlos and the equally attractive Alfred, nanny to Cal and Michael's son, CJ - and you've got the makings of yet another exciting, eventful stay along the Jersey shore.

As Cupid's arrow strikes without discretion among the guests, the author provides a more intimate, compelling portrait of the characters. Matt and Keone have more in common than they ever anticipated, and the end result is life-changing. The chemistry between Alfred and Carlos is obvious, but both have secrets that may jeopardize how the other sees them. Nyx believes a higher power helped him find his soulmate until Kurt suggests a less predestined (and more plausible) explanation.

Cal, as well, is not immune to controversy when Kevin appears to be interested in more than a business relationship, which doesn't go unnoticed by Michael, who does his own investigating and uncovers some alarming information.

Once again, Cosentino reminds us how love conquers all and that sometimes the best relationships are complicated. Cal and Michael's devotion to each other and their family never wavers, despite any interferences, and the Cozzi Cove employees and guests are all fortunate enough to benefit from the owners' patronage. "Happy Endings" is a quintessential page-turner that lives up to its title tenfold.
