Americans Plan to Get More Than Just the Tree Up This Holiday Season

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The holiday season is officially heating up – in more ways than one. Nearly half of Americans admit they're much more frisky during the holidays, according to new research.

This saucy piece of data emerged in a new study examining "holiday hanky-panky" which also found that nearly three in four Americans polled (70 percent) typically have sex on Christmas Day.

Not only that, nearly half the country (44 percent) already have sex scheduled in the planner this Christmas Day, according to the results.

The survey of 2,000 Americans conducted by EdenFantasys also found that while having sex over the holidays while visiting family may be tricky, it certainly doesn't stop that many people.

Nearly half of Americans in the survey (47 percent) say they've had sex in their old childhood bedroom while visiting their family with a partner, and 39 percent have done the deed in a partner's childhood bedroom while visiting their family.

While having sex at your parents' or partner's parents' house is certainly possible, is it always a good idea?

One in four Americans says that they've been walked in on by their parents or their partner's parents while engaging in some "Christmas Delight."

Which leads many Americans to have to get creative when the "Yuletide Spirit" kicks in, and venture to odd places to get busy with their partner while staying with family over the holidays.

For example, one respondent ventured to an outdoor basketball court. Another creative individual resorted to having sex behind the family Christmas tree, while someone else admitted to actually sneaking onto the roof of the house to have sex.

"According to the National Center for Health Statistics, months August and September have the most births each year," said Fred Petrenko of EdenFantasys. "This corresponds perfectly with our findings of Americans being quite frisky during the holidays. We all love winter cuddles!"

Is there something in the music that makes the holidays extra freaky? According to the survey, 33 percent find "Jingle Bells" to be a perfectly suitable background song for sex.

Another 28 percent would get busy to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and one in four (26 percent) would be comfortable with "Jingle Bell Rock" blaring on the speakers.

For 38 percent of Americans, simply doing some holiday shopping is enough to turn them on.

And funnily enough, for another 32 percent of Americans, holiday shopping online is enough to turn them on.

And that feeling may sometimes translate over to the gifts we that end up getting our partners, too, as 29 percent have gifted their partner a sex toy in the past, and another 54 percent have gifted their partner lingerie.

But who needs gifts, anyway? Forty-seven percent of Americans they've just gifted sex to their partner for the holidays.
