PopUps: Oops! Bette Midler's Name Misspelled on 'Hello, Dolly!' Broadway Marquee
That's what we call a "diva diss!"
Page Six reported over the weekend Bette Midler's name was misspelled on the marquee at Shubert Theatre on Broadway for her revival of "Hello, Dolly!"
"They spelled her name without the last 'e'!" a miffed Midler fan told the newspaper.
But the theater officials claim the marquee was still in the process of being put up and Page Six reports the "error" has been fixed.
"We are quite sure there is not a soul within a 15-block radius of Shubert Alley that doesn't know the exact proper spelling of Ms. Midler's name," a rep for the play told the newspaper. "You'll be happy to know that both 'e's in Bette are finally back where they belong."
"Hello, Dolly!" starts on March 15 with David Hyde Pierce. Jerry Zaks is directing.
