Minneapolis Newscaster Drops ’F-Bomb’ During Gay Pride Segment

"Four years and they couldn't get me on the KSTP blooper reel. I guess they've got me now" quipped Bill Lunn, a newscaster for KSTP, ABC's affiliate news station in Minneapolis, after he made a huge faux pas by accidentally dropping that three letter "f-bomb" while introducing a segment on the Minneapolis Gay Pride Parade.

The newscaster opened up with, "I pledge allegiance to the flag..." but had an apparent slip of the tongue, and instead of "flag" he said, "fag," just as footage of the Pride Parade appeared across the screen.

Soon after the incident, the Twitterverser was ablaze with viewers calling out his mispronunciation.

"Terribly sorry. I feel awful about it. I stumbled over the word flag, and quickly corrected myself. Please forgive me," he wrote to one user. "I certainly did not mean to say it. I stumbled over the word flag. I feel horribly it happened, but it was a simple mistake," Lunn said to another.

After replying to a slew of tweets, Lunn offered an official apology by tweeting, "I want to sincerely apologize for stumbling over the word flag on Tuesday's late newscast. What came out of my mouth was a word I never use. While I quickly corrected myself, I take responsibility for what I say. It was a stumble, nothing more. I celebrate the diversity of our great state and am horrified that I may have offended people. I humbly ask for your forgiveness."

In August, Minnesota became the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Watch the clip, titled "News Anchor Freidun Slip," of Lunn's slip up below:

I am a Minnesotan and watch this newscaster almost daily. He is a class act and is truly apologetic for the timing of his slip up. I have to admit, I find the timing of his slip to be hilarious. It’s ok Mr. Lunn, we know how to laugh too. Not everyone is an angry gay. I, for one, accept your heartfelt apology.

Too stupid for a professional. He must resign or be fired, especially in a large media market . No excuses on his part.

He should be fired or asked to resign. He actually should have manhood enough to resign himself. He’s in too big a market to get by with so called gaffs . He made a stupid, explicit discriminatory statement on the public airways.

Get a grip people, the man slipped!! As a gay man that was actually at Stonewall, I can honestly say stop your whining !

I’ve said the F word when trying to say flag at least on 5 occasions. Lol This guy shouldn’t be fired over a slip up. You angry gays need to lighten up, it was pretty funny! Especially his shock face!

GOD!!! Some of you people are just too darned sensitive and critical that you will make an huge issue out of anything. "He actually should have manhood enough to resign himself."??? Excuse me? The guy showed more MANHOOD to apologize more than enough on National TV and actually being MAN enough to admit his mistake, which is far more impressive than what can be said about others, Especially some people in the LGBT Community who get so dramatic, pushy and overbearingly loud, and they would NEVER have it in them to admit when they’ve gone too far overboard... He said it, it was an accidental slip, and conveniently enough just before a frigging caption of a Pride Parade, which gave the drama queens the ammo to B!tch and Whine and scream Bloody Murder... GET OVER IT ALREADY!

Nobody has noticed the slip up that Edge has made "In August, Minnesota became the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriage." August hasn’t happened yet-Minnesota got that in May and it will become effective in August. We all make slip-ups. Choose your battles and let this one go.
