Sometimes it’s the lesser-known, low budget films that can wow an audience.

"In Fear" happens to fall in that category and this viewer was on the edge of his seat in a nightmarish tale set in Ireland. This slow-moving film concerns young couple Tom (Iain De Caestecker) and Lucy (Alice Englert) who get sidetracked on their way to an Irish music festival.

Their journey takes them through an endless maze of streets that confuse the couple, who end up lost and stranded. It isn’t long before Tom and Lucy realize they are not alone and become terrorized by an unknown figure. You may get the heebie-jeebies as the stalking madman is seen in fleeting glimpses while wearing a white mask.

For sheer realism, the actors (known for "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Beautiful Creatures") weren’t given the script to "In Fear" before they shot their scenes. This gives the film an even more heightened sense of "real time" action as the events unfold over a 24-hour period.

Scenes shot on location in England (standing in for Ireland) are stunningly shown in gloomy fashion on this recommended Blu-ray.

"In Fear: Behind the Scenes" shows up as the Blu-ray’s token special feature. Writer and director Jeremy Pickering appears the most in the 13-minute segment...he praises his three actors for staying in character throughout the entire shoot. The "in fear" was created by having them improvise many scenes and on-set footage seen during this bonus feature proves this. It all works in the suspenseful film’s favor.
