Fifi Howls From Happiness
Mitra Farahani provides a poignant panegyric for dissident Iranian artist Bahman Mohassess in "Fifi Howls From Happiness."
Ayatollahs put underwear on his unabashed nude sculptures, but Mohassess himself destroyed most of his vibrant paintings reflecting on My Lai, the Gulf War, Chernobyl and other atrocities, noting "I don’t work for posterity." Yet, the artist wanted to control the content of this documentary, shot in Rome, where he sequestered himself for years before his 2010 death.
