The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1
Yes...it’s finally almost over. With "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" finally released on Blu-ray/DVD, tween girls everywhere can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The penultimate film chapter of the tremendously successful book series (but utterly tiresome vampire love story) by Stephenie Meyer has been rattling cages for nearly half a decade already. Were it not for the film’s stars - Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart - who, both onscreen and off, seemed to have realized the romance between the vampire Edward and his Bella and propelled an arduous plot into a pop-culture phenomenon - I doubt anyone past the throes of puberty cared which way this story would go.
For a lot of us we’ll just miss Taylor Lautner’s werewolf "Jake" running around in nothing but cut-off denims. Certainly there was the writhing anticipation for the wedding, the totally over-hyped honeymoon - splintering bed and all, then there’s the baby. Bella and Edward finally consummate their love with blood-curdling results. Talk about unsafe sex! The rest of the movie plays like an all-too long marathon of Teen Mom - there are after all consequences with the birth of this new bundle, but we really won’t know until Part 2 is unleashed in theaters in the fall.
The greatest revelation of the bonus disc ’behind-the-scenes’ features is that legendary super star designer Carolina Herrera designed the dress that Stewart wears down the aisle, realizing the dream of every blossoming fan of the series - that true love knows fashion sense. The 6-part ’Making of’ documentary takes fans onto the sets and to the exotic locations, and explores the future of these favorite characters. Mostly, fans are going to want to see the additional ’Wedding Video’. Whether you’re "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob" you’ll be happy with the feature that lets you navigate through the film with your favorite bloodsucker or furry four-footed teen. Guess which one gets my tail wagging?
