Susan Sarandon: 'My Sexual Orientation is Up for Grabs'

Thursday Feb 16, 2017

Susan Sarandon is promoting her upcoming FX show "Feud: Bette and Joan," where the actress plays legendary Hollywood star Bette Davis. In a new interview with Pride Source, Sarandon discussed the series, her sexuality and her role in the 2016 presidential election.

The actress called herself a "serial monogamist," adding, "I haven't exactly been in the midst of a lot of offers of any kind. I'm still not! I don't know what's going on! But I think back in the '60s it just was much more open."

When Pride Source asked if she's open about her sexuality, "The Meddler" star said:

"Yeah, I'm open. My sexual orientation is up for grabs; I guess you could say."

Sarandon was also asked what it's like to be a gay icon and play a gay icon in "Feud."

"Well, I hope the appeal seems to be broader! I'm hoping we reach out across the aisles to heterosexuals also because what I think the story is about is a really interesting examination of all kinds of things: power and roles and misogyny and aging," she said.

Things got political when Pride Source brought up the 2016 presidential election.

"...we're in a moment in history where you're gonna either be on one side or the other and to be quiet or to be depressed or to blame me is not productive, so that's what I would say about that."
