Gossip Girl: The Complete Fourth Season

"Gossip Girl" is a completely ridiculous show. That being said, you'll honestly question why you can't stop watching it. The Complete Fourth Season, available on DVD, has all the fashion, scintillating moments and outrageous soap operatic drama you've come to expect.

The fourth season of the popular teen drama takes the show to new heights. The first few episodes begin in Paris with such rich detail you'll feel like you're there. The DVD set features a special featurette called " Bisoux a Paris!" which captures all the production choices, behind-the-scenes moments and some great insights into filming the show.

This season continues the drama of Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and their friends and foes. This season features the appearance of Katie Cassidy, from the failed reboot of "Melrose Place." She plays Juliet a new rival for Serena. There are also some of the final moments with Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) and Vanessa (Jessica Szohr).

It also features a brief moment with Gossip Girl, herself, Kristen Bell recording her lines.

There is another featurette, "Exposing Gossip Girl: The Making of Episode 418" which offers an extensive breakdown of how the show is made. It follows a major episode from conception in the writing room, through planning, costume design, filming and editing. It also features a brief moment with Gossip Girl, herself, Kristen Bell recording her lines. There are some deleted scenes and a gag reel. The deleted scenes are fairly short and don't change the episode experience that much.

"Gossip Girl" is art. It may not have the most extensive writing or plot development, but the fashion, culture and elements of New York that it captures each episode really elevate this series above soap operas and teen dramas. This season may stagnate towards the end but it is a definite must-see for one-hour drama fans and a must-own for die hard Gossip Girls.
