Bones - The Complete Eighth Season

"Bones" has reached a few milestones. It has reached eight seasons, the two main characters have finally started a relationship and, hell, there's a baby. The eighth season, available on Blu-ray, features some great special features that celebrate the fans.

Season eight begins with Bones (Temperance Brennan) on the lam after being framed for murder. She and Booth (David Boreanaz) eventually settle into their relationship and raise their daughter, Christine, together. The season features a monumental episode told from the perspective of a victim's skull. There's also the return of Booth's estranged mother (Joanna Cassidy). Cyndi Lauper also reprises her role as psychic Avalon Harmonia.

The Blu-ray set of the series features some unique special features. They are made to show love for the fans. "Dying to Know: Bones Answers Your Questions" features the cast and crew answering user-submitted questions. "Bare Bones: Total Fandom-onium" features viewer submitted fan videos. Users were asked by the show to submit videos to prove they are the biggest "Bones" fans.

Cyndi Lauper also reprises her role as psychic Avalon Harmonia.

The gag reel is funny considering how often the cast flubs lines. It's also refreshing to see how much fun they have behind the scenes. The deleted scenes aren't particularly spectacular. These are mostly scenes that were trimmed for time. There is also a commentary on the episode "The Future in the Past" with Hart Hanson, Stephen Nathan and Ian Toynton. It's not particularly exciting, but there are some interesting facts.

"Bones" is a bit of a sleeper hit. The series doesn't get as much street cred for how amazing it really can be to watch. It's fun, smart and offers a different spin on procedurals. Also, the show just has likable characters and relationships you root for.
