One Million Moms: ’Hotwire is in Hot Water’ Over Ad with 2 Gay Dads

Watch out Hotwire! Your new ad's sassy innuendo could cost you a slew of angry Christian women customers who think any group with over 65,000 members equal a million.

Just in time for Pride Month, American Family Association's media watchdog group One Million Moms (OMM) is back with their first anti-gay focused write-in campaign since focusing their rage on Nabisco for a gay inclusive graham cracker ad in March.

The latest call to arms from OMM is against travel booking website over an innocuous ad featuring a pair of preppyish gay dads discussing booking a hotel. The 30-second TV spot titled "Lucky Me" is part of a series of commercials launching to coincide with the redesign of Hotwire's website.

OMM's rant reads (verbatim): is in hot water with conservative families over their newest commercial. Consumers should be aware of the offensive ad because there are many other travel sites to choose from if parents are warned about this indecent ad.

The commercial is about a couple going away for their anniversary while the grandparents take care of their kid for the night. But while one partner is dreaming of sleep and says, "It's all about sleep," the other partner says disappointedly, "Not all about sleep!" The dialogue goes on to say, "For me it is." And the reply is, "Lucky me."

A commercial should not discuss what does or doesn't happen in bed, plus the couple consists of two men. Hotwire is obviously not concerned about the message they are sending our children.

Please send an email letter asking them to pull their "Lucky Me" commercial immediately. Click on link to Take Action!

The Hotwire campaign marks the first time that the Christian media watchdog group (whose numbers according to Facebook are actually a little over 65,000) has launched an anti-gay campaign since March when they went after Nabisco for a gay inclusive ad for Honey Maid Graham Crackers. The email campaign failed to sway Nabisco, who have since created two gay themed follow up ads. A similar write-in campaign from OMM in 2013 against Kraft over a suggestive print ad for its Zesty salad dressing spurred an entire second series of ads.

Hotwire joins the proud group of corporations that include JC Penney, Walt Disney Corporation, ABC, NBC, CBS, TBS, Kraft, Nabisco, Sports Illustrated and Norelco who have either been boycotted or badgered by One Million Moms.

Oh, piffle! Their side has already lost, as evidenced by the willingness of advertisers to feature Gay couples

Suggestion to One Million Moms and others who pretend to be pro-family while denying their support to caring and loving same-sex led families and marriages: GET OVER IT! The fact is same-sex led families are caring and loving families whose children are as well balanced as children from so-called "traditional" families. Unless they are prepared to support all families, they do not have the right to say they are pro-family.

These uptight sexually frustrated "One Million Moms", need to get a life. And, probably need to get laid too.

  • , 2014-06-13 08:40:36

Goes to show you where "One Million Moms" minds are at. The guys in the ad could be referring not to sex but going to a show... enjoying a dine dining experience... taking a moonlit stroll... or just cuddling and talking. And how many of those "Moms" have children? How many are even women? Their membership barely one-twentieth of one million, so why should we buy into anything else their name implies? I suspect this is yet another "Christian" fringe group run by old men (with, evidently, filthy minds).

  • , 2014-06-13 10:47:00

Why aren’t they more focused on good causes as Christians? What about creating OMM coalition to help struggling moms? Or what about a OMM coalition to help kids from low income families make sure that they get all the proper things they need to grow and be successful?! I can think of 10 million positive causes they could focus all these OMM’s on that help to better the world as a whole but, noooo its easier tospend all this effort, money, and time to get all worked up over this commercial. I just dont get people. They call themselves a Christian organization but, Christ never turned anyone away and he preached love, charity,.... They read Leviticus, the old testament, and say gay people are going tohell but, they forget that Christians were freed from the laws of the old testament because Christ changed all that and died on the cross for it. Not trying to get all religious, just stating the principals of what they say they are. Well, the old testament also says no pork, clothes cannot be of two cloths, get prepared to sell your daughters, your husband can slap you, slaves you can have em... These idiots pick and pull what they want from the Holy Bible to justify their hatred for others. Its sick, its a shame, its everything against what Christ taught.

Imagine your children watching the commercial and asking where the mom is. Now, I have to tell them there is not a mom in that family. What happens next is the question, "Where is the dad?" If I say they are both the dad, there are a plethora of other questions that follow. None of which can be answered in a way that lead my child to understand how it is possible for 2 "dads" to create a child. Adoption is the obvious case here, but the fact still remains. Two men, or 2 women, cannot create a child. Therefore, the simple truth is, this is not correct. You cannot use 2 bolts to secure anything. There must be a nut to fasten it. To the comment about Christ never turning anyone away, that is correct. What he did do is love them and tell them to GO FORTH AND SIN NO MORE. It is undeniable that homosexuality is a sin because it is stated in the Bible as such. That being said, it is also stated that all sin, except for sinning again the Holy Spirit, can be forgiven. This is through true repentance and asking Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. Once you have done this, your sins are forgiven. Not the ones you are going to commit. You must continuously ask for fogiveness and discontinue the sins you have committed. This means ask for fogiveness and STOP committing the sin. Just as in the law of the world, you can be forgiven until it is apparent that you are just going to continue and expect leniency everytime you get caught. A lot of people will argue with these things, but the truth is just that. The truth. I pray for evryone that reads this. Maybe the OMM seems somewhat like a "busy body" group that is looking for things to complain about. But, there are things that people do not want their children to see because they are wrong. If homosexuality was not wrong, why has there been such a strong history of trying to hide it?

  • , 2014-06-13 15:03:34

To the comment above: With such a strong history of the world supporting slavery, was it wrong that the US freed slaves? Just because history tried hiding homosexuality doesn’t mean its wrong, people fear what they don’t understand, and with fear comes oppression. I have love in my heart, both for my partner and our family, and for the world. Life is too short to condemn everyone for things I do not understand. Children learn hate, if you speak to your children about life and all that they will encounter - but always underline it with love and acceptance, our world will be so much better. I love unconditionally so when I leave this earth, I do so with a legacy of peace and positivity . I believe that is what my God would want

omm needs to get alife instead of causing trouble

  • GAG'EM, 2014-06-14 00:14:33

Bob K.: I second your piffle.

  • , 2014-06-14 08:26:26

Following the established Kinsey figures, One Million Moms have 100,000 gay children. Also, children are born tolerant, free of bias, bigotry and religion. It is the responsibility of a good parent to assure their children remain free of bias, bigotry and religion. Children do not have a problem with ’two Dads’ or ’two Moms’. It is their hateful parents that do and pass their own insecurities on to their spawn.

  • , 2014-06-14 11:04:50

It’s like I’ve said before, and will say it again, OMM has no say in what is being promoted in todays society. The truth is, we live in a society of straight, gay, bisexual and transgender families. Most of all, OMM’s themselves, may have children of their own who are LGBT, and not even know it. What does that say about that parent? That shows me an unloving, supportive parent. I, for one, would never stand for that.

  • , 2014-06-14 13:31:42

Uptight not even close to a million sexually frustrated moms....get a dildo biatchesssssssss!!

  • , 2014-06-14 16:23:49

To the OMM - watching the gay commercial is not going to make children gay. Lol. I’m a gay child born and raised in a family of ALL straight people. What happened? OMG! I was born this way, pure and simple. Thank god my mum accepted me - I hope you all accept your gay children, for their sake.

  • , 2014-06-14 21:13:37

I am not against gay persons, it’s their choice! Just as in Capitalism, it’s my choice not to patronize any business that stands against my personal beliefs. Therefore, Hotwire will not get my business, so go ahead and bash me because I have not agreed with the gay lifestyle. It’s odd how those that scream tolerance are the least tile want of all! Christians speak up, homosexuality is not the same as slavery! As a descendant of African slaves I protest your logic in this irrational comparison. It’s apples and oranges! We Conservatives as a demographic are the majority, don’t argue with these bigoted homosexuals, use the truth and let it set you free! Speak loud and often, let these companies know that we are tired of the anything goes attitude, life has rules!

  • , 2014-06-17 18:01:20

The Lord shall cleanse these queers

  • , 2014-06-18 15:41:24

I agree, I don’t hate gays i just don’t agree with their life style. I certainly don’t like how they are trying to force their lifestyle in exceptance for the world. We don’t have to agree with you, we don’t have to let you into our lives and except your way as normal. However, no one should hate you, only pray for you to change.

  • , 2014-06-18 22:34:33

I will have to agree with the last comment of "we dont hate you " We just dont want you to force your life style on every one. We have turn into a nation that is afraid of telling some one how it is. They get upset and say you are homophobes. Why should i have to put up with your life style. You cant compare civil right movement ans slavery to this gay and lesbian movement ...really wow.

  • , 2014-06-27 09:22:12

    ewww, creepy.

  • , 2014-06-27 19:00:49

I love butt jockeys! They are great fodder for all kinds of jokes... Here’s one for you... Three gay dudes are sitting in a hot tub and a condom floats to the top... one guy says "Okay who farted?" Man I love freedom of speech... aint it grand?

  • , 2014-06-30 20:19:14

How do 4 gay guys sit on a stool..turn the stool upside down...What do you call 5 gay guys in a sleeping bag..a fruit roll up...No, you don’t deserve the same rights and slavery is not the same thing. Only the president is allowed to use the race card when he wants and he does the great dictator he his. And no to OBAMA- he loves you guys and gay gals for your vote. So before you tell the nice Christian women to use a dildo you might want to clean yours first and stop forcing this crap down our throats. Go Christians and tea party members and true conservatives who care about our core values and constitution...

  • , 2014-07-08 22:41:16

Gays have become their enemy. They railed against intolerance, but now they are the most intolerant of those who don’t agree with their lifestyle. As far as making a comparison to slavery, it just goes to show how delusional and desperate the are to justify their sinful lifestyle. What you do in your bed room is your business but don’t shove it in my face every chance you get!

  • , 2014-07-29 17:22:08

The only thing that I would change with the commercial is the ending comments regarding sleep. I think it was added to confirm their status because up until that point, I wasn’t fully understanding the commercial intent. Personally, I liked it.

  • , 2014-08-03 21:58:37

It took a few times for me to "get" the gay sex overtones this commercial was sneaking into my home. Shame on "you people", yes, I said "you people". Why do you constantly have to shove your perverted lifestyle in everyone’s face. Disgusting. No Hotwire user here.

  • , 2014-08-03 22:13:07

After I posted the above comment I joined One Million Moms.

  • Anonymous, 2016-01-04 17:29:56

You straight people force your beliefs down our throats everyday when a commercial comes on with a man and woman. None of us had a choice in whether we came out gay or straight, I have a mother who shoved the whole "gay is wrong" crap down my throat which created a disturbed child hood of depression for myself always wanting to be "normal," praying endlessly, etc. Guess what, I’m still gay, and God didn’t create us to shame ourselves for our entire existence on earth. The brutality that you anti-gay people have created is only making the world an even more ugly place to live in. Every person should be taught to love everybody without hateful bias, and every person should be taught that it’s okay to fall in love with whomever they please without fear of judgement. You all are contributing to the horrors in the world, the world in which God allowed us to walk and only asked that you leave the judgement to him. Instead you take it into your own hands even knowing it will only contribute to your stress. So I’ll leave with two questions, why worry yourself with what others are doing? Why not allow us to just be happy?
