The Expendables is a great action flick reminiscent of the great action films of the 80's and 90's. The cast is a mix of "classic" action stars along with today's stars including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and even cameos by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.
Barney Ross (Stallone) is the head of a group of mercenaries willing to take on any job no matter how dangerous. They have been recruited to overthrow a South American dictatorship but nothing goes as planned. Things are made worse when the group discovers that the dictator's daughter is trying to bring down her father as well while all the while attempting to restore her country's freedom.
The Expendables is loaded with extras, there's the Ultimate Recon Mode, which provides interviews and on-set footage via picture-in picture, Stallone gives great behind the scenes info in the commentary, and there are two featurettes - one dedicated to the making of the film and the other dealing with the post-production and release of the movie. Also included is a deleted scene, gag reel and a cool Q&A panel from Comic Con 2010.
The movie is great fun made better by the mixture of new and old action stars; there are a couple of actors who were missing, but with a sequel on the way, hopefully they'll be included in The Expendables 2.
