Hung - The Complete Third Season
Television in the Sixties had shows with all kinds of odd, unbelievable premises: Tennessee hillbillies who move to Beverly Hills, housewives who are secretly witches, martians living among us, and seven castaways on a sightseeing boat trip marooned on a deserted island.
The HBO show, "Hung," is similarly unlikely, but equally entertaining: a divorced high school teacher with two kids and a huge endowment in his trousers becomes a gigolo to help make ends meet after his house burns down. All it's missing is a Jeannie in a bottle. The series, starring Thomas Jane, Jane Adams and Anne Heche, lasted three seasons and the final 10 episodes are now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
While Season Two of "Hung" focused on the family life and struggles of Ray, his ex-wife, kids and pimp Tanya, Season Three brought the sex to the forefront and focused on Ray's competition from a handsome younger male escort, played by Stephen Amell, who starts stealing some of his jobs.
While Ray's legendary endowment never makes an appearance, there's an abundance of skin and steamy sex throughout the season. Other plot twists include Ray's dates with a transsexual, his and Tanya's blackmail by a female cop, his relationship with a former student, and the his ex-wife's discovery of his moonlighting career.
Bonus Features on the Blu-ray set include:
A never-before-seen Alternate Ending from the season finale episode, The Whole Beefalo, which suggests a possible long-term romantic relationship for Ray and Tanya.
Hung: Inside the Series - a very candid 15-minute discussion with series creators Colette Burson and Dmitry Lipkin about the season three story arc and the characters' development.
Wellness Center Tour - a four-minute tour of the new set with Burson.
Pimpin' Ain't Easy - a four-minute featurette in which Charlie the Pimp, played by Lennie James, offers a funny soliloquy about how difficult it is these days in his chosen profession.
Where is Henry Ford - a mediocre song and music video about Detroit by Ray's two kids, Damon and Darby, played by Charlie Saxton and Sianoa Smit-McPhee
Several deleted scenes with commentary by Burson and Lipkin.
There are also commentary tracks on four of the episodes by Burson and Lipkin as well as with writers from the show.
Audio tracks and subtitles are in English, Spanish and French.
