The Call

"The Call" is a taut thriller, starring Halle Berry as a 911 operator who fields a call from a kidnapped teenager who is trapped in the trunk of a car. Her captor may be someone with whom Berry's character has a history.

The Blu-Ray release of the hit film is chocked full of extras. The audio commentary and the behind the scenes featurette are available on both the DVD and Blu-Ray versions. But, included exclusively on the combo pack are alternate and deleted scenes and an alternate ending that doesn't really offer anything or change anything for the characters. Other exclusives are set tours of The 911 Hive and The Lair used at the end of the film and a look at how the stunts for the film were done.

Most interesting among the features is the inclusion of actor Michal Eklund's audition footage. It's not a standard audition reading, but rather appears to be a music video especially made for his character. He also includes some scenes from the film that he set up and filmed. It gives a look at how he envisioned the character before even getting the role while also getting a unique peek into the process.

The audio commentary is interestingly put together, with actresses Berry and Abigail Breslin joined by director Brad Anderson, multiple producers and writer Richard D'Ovidio all taking part, although from different locations. To help make sense of the commentary, one of the producers also serves as a discussion moderator.
