The modern American family continues to evolve and none the more relevant then in writer/director’s Justin Zackham’s "The Big Wedding" now available on Blu-ray and Digital Copy. For the first-time director to work with a dream cast including Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon, Zackham couldn’t have asked for more. He based this dramedy on his own experiences and reveals a family unique in its dynamic, but over-flowing with genuine love for one another.

Everyone loves a wedding, and when Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) host the nuptials of their adoptive son Alejandro (played by Ben Barnes) to Missy, Amanda Seyfried’s upper crust Connecticut wasp, hilarity is bound to ensue. Alejandro has invited his biological mother to the wedding, but not revealed to her that his parents are no longer married. Don is now shacking up with Bebe (Sarandon) and if Alejandro’s "very conservative, very Catholic" mom finds out...well, Don and Ellie have to pretend that they’re happily married.

Also Jared and Lyla, the Griffin’s other children (played by Topher Grace and Katherine Heigl) have secrets of their own. Jared, a successful doctor, is saving himself for the "right woman" - really...he’s a 30-year old virgin; Lyla is fighting fate and realizing that she’s more like her father than she’d like to admit she is. Gathering together for what should be the happiest day of their lives, Missy and Alejandro’s wedding may be the most memorable for many reasons. You can bet that Father Moinighan, played by Robin Williams, and Muffin, Missy’s plastic and bigotted mother, played by Chrstine Ebersole, will only add fuel to the fire.

Happily played by its extraordinary cast of Hollywood icons and up-and-coming upstarts, "The Big Wedding" is a fun flick. Accept this invitation and send in your RSVP asap. With a cast this big, "The Big Wedding" is worthy of its title. Including a beautifully crafted behind-the-scenes featurette, take a look at this passion project and how the filmmakers brought together all the ingredients to pull off the event of the year.
