Broadway’s Carols For A Cure 2012: Volume 14

With the plethora of holiday music available, the law of averages dictates that the majority of it is of a sub-par quality, made up merely of artists throwing together mediocre arrangements of the tried-and-true to exploit an already saturated market. Fortunately, this release is not one of them!

"Broadway's Carols for a Cure, Volume 14" is a high-quality, well-crafted set of twenty-one holiday-themed songs, both traditional and brand new, performed by the current crop of Broadway actors as a fund-raiser for "Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS." Producers Lynn Pinto and Andros Rodriguez have put together an accessible, yet eclectic combination of songs and styles to create an engaging 2-CD collection that would make a wonderful stocking-stuffer for the theater buff on your list.

Highlights include a bilingual version of "We Three Kings" performed by the Broadway cast of "Evita," including leads Ricky Martin, Elena Roger and Michael Cerveris; an original piece titled, "Outside the Box," delivered tongue-in-cheek by Broadway's current "Phantom of the Opera," Hugh Panaro, and the cast of the Andrew Lloyd Webber mainstay; a high energy dance-club arrangement of "Angels We Have Heard On High" presented by the cast of "Bring It On;" and celebrity appearances throughout from Cyndi Lauper, Perez Hilton, Chita Rivera and Stephanie J. Block. Other casts appearing include the companies of "Once," "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," "Peter and the Starcatcher," "Wicked," "The Lion King," and "Mamma Mia."

All the previous recordings in the series are available by visiting www.broadwaycares.org. This CD contains a complete list of all the actors and musicians who gave of their time to contribute their talented efforts to this worthy project, as well as some entertaining pictures from the recording session. Go and support BC/EFA by purchasing this recording and you will not be dissatisfied.
