The Reality of FASHION, the Reality of AIDS
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (Feb. 7-14) is around the corner where internationally renowned designers will descend on New York City's Lincoln Center for seven days of catwalks and couture. Among the glitz and glamour is one runway show that is skipping the Amazonian models and, instead, opting for a bit of reality.
On Feb. 9, "The Reality of FASHION, the Reality of AIDS" will present reality stars and celebrities joining forces for this first-of-its-kind philanthropic event. All designs from the show will be auctioned off to raise additional funds.
The participating star lineup includes Deena Nicole Cortese of "The Jersey Shore," Lil Kim of "Dancing with the Stars" and The Pussycat Dolls Present Girlicious, Malaysia Pargo of "Basketball Wives L.A.," Sheree Whitfield, Janice Dickinson, Brittany Brower, Keenyah Hill, Ramona Rizzo, Alex McCord, Ramona Singer, Tiffany "New York" Pollard, Michelle Money, Courtney Robertson, Tracy DiMarco, Jessica Romano, Briella Calafore, Nikki Rae Walker and more.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 50,000 people in the United States are newly infected with HIV each year. The event hopes to raise funds and awareness, particularly for young people who may not know they are infected.
