The annual Hudson Pride LGBT festival started eleven years ago in downtown Jersey City. This year the theme was "Do Ask Do TEll!" This event, rescheduled from August because of Hurricane Irene, attracted hundreds of cheering spectators who came to enjoy the great performances,to be proud of who they are, and to support the repeal of the U.S. policy on homosexual, bisexual and transgender people serving in the military.
Martha Wash headlined the annual PrideFest in Richmond, Va., on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Hundreds of gays and their family members and allies, gathered in Virginia’s capital city of Richmond for PrideFest 2011. Among the featured entertainers were Washington DC based singer Tom Goss and internationally celebrated singer Martha Wash of "It’s Raining Men" fame. EDGE was there to enjoy some southern LGBT hospitality and capture photos of the festivities.
Another fabulous festival in Lee Park brings Pride weekend to a close as crowds gathered after the parade. What was different this year? To help ease production costs there was a small admission fee to enter, which didn’t stop the masses from enjoying a beautiful afternoon. EDGE has the images from the celebration.
Curaçao will kick off its seventh annual Get Wet Weekend of gay (and straight!) friendly activities, Sept. 30 to Oct. 8, hosted by the Gay Plasa organization, a GLBT community group. Travelers can enjoy cultural events, get-togethers and dances galore.
On Saturday, October 1, the first-ever "Celebrate Orgullo®" event will take place in Lummus Park on Miami Beach. "Orgullo" is Spanish for "Pride," and this event celebrates South Florida’s LGBT Hispanic community.
