XELLE :: Dancing "Queens"

Moving beyond the perception that they are a novelty act, the all-girl trio XELLE is taking their affection for club life to an entirely new level on their debut EP appropriately entitled "Queens." The trio is composed of luscious lady-loves JC Cassis (the blond bombshell), Rony G (the raven-haired beauty) and Mimi Imfurst - the drag queen made infamous on "RuPaul's Drag Race." Blending a symphonic concoction honoring dance/pop acts like ABBA, The Spice Girls, and whipped into a frothy lather by super-producer Zach Adam, XELLE excels at delivering a pure dance floor confection.

Sugar and spice with a signature bite, the effortless blending of these three distinct voices and the synth-pop they deliver is proving that dance music evolves beyond the commercialism that has threatened to water it down to background dribble on automobile and soft drink ads. XELLE takes their shit seriously especially because they are so connected to their core audience - the denizens of the New York CIty club culture and the gay fans they've courted all along.

With their love of fashion and their flair for the dramatic, XELLE soon made a name for themselves on the gay cabaret scene. Inspired by club kids of yesterday and today, they've elevated their love of music into an art form - pushing the audio and visual platforms to new heights, hair and all!

Beyond Dancing Queens

It’s become the stuff of legend. They met while singing in a karaoke competition. Mimi pulled the two ladies up and they performed a tune together. The chemistry was instant, and it wasn’t long before Mimi convinced the group to stick together. XELLE band mate Rony G had collaborated with music producer Zach Adam before and again most recently on a ballad for dance diva Martha Wash. It wasn’t difficult to convince the mix-master that XELLE had a winning component - nor was it the "drag" novelty or the over-the-top high-fashion get ups.

These girls could sing! It’s evident in the EP’s lead track "Queen" which is the album’s most apparent club-thumper. The electro-base thump and melodies are a reminder of Rihanna’s more inspired dance hits, but there’s a genuine hook in the song that will relentlessly inspire massive pony-tail spinning - where else...on the dance floor. "Invincible" has all the ingredients of an inspired Katy Perry anthem; with its positive message the track is invincibly infectious. "Sweat" and "Party Girl" each have a late 80’s/early 90’s pop feel that is fresh, and "The City" is a hypnotic valentine to the city that never sleeps, with a rock breakdown that proves the group’s versatility.

That Zach Adam pulled another rabbit out of his hat is no surprise, producing all the tracks, albeit he had some pure inspiration to work with. Let XELLE be your queens of the night!
