Asbury Park’s Sand Blast Booms!
On Monday countless weekend-warriors were returning to their mundane routines after participating in the northeast coast’s most celebrated event...Asbury Park’s Sand Blast Weekend, which again capped off another year of sand, surf and fun under the Jersey sun.
As if on cue the clouds overhead parted like a curtain signaling the opening of Sand Blast’s Beach Party, the centrifugal event dominating the 3-day weekend. The man at the helm of the day’s symphonic feast was non-other than DJ Brett Henrichsen. The overture prompted the players to take their positions on strategically placed stages on the beachside dance floor. Go-go boys in speedos, twirling flag-dancers, and acrobats welcomed the soon-to-be suntanned beach bodies cueing up to party.
The Masterbeat DJ/producer extraordinaire Henrichsen let loose on the turntables spinning the dance floor antics into overdrive. Even Sand Blast’s Sunday Pool Party headliner DJ Corey Craig happily threw some shade as he beat the hits from the Aqua Lounge parapets overlooking the trampoline entertainment provided by the Elite Trampoline Academy.
On the Jersey Shore...What a Blast!
Event producer Brad Hurtado was speechless at the magnificent turnout for the Asbury Park take-over. The beach was as active as the dance floor, the waves washing the surf side and cooling the summer time heat.
The ensuing party did little to deter Asbury Park’s guests from enjoying the thriving boardwalk that is lined with shops, fast food fare and all-new fine dining experiences to suit every taste. Volleyball competitions and the summer stage at the world famous Stone Pony were all ready to greet newcomers, proving Asbury Park’s continuing determination to provide an alternative to the numerous local seaside getaways.
The host hotel, the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel conveniently situated across from the beach party, also hosted the Saturday night events including an underwear after-party that would set the mood for Sunday’s outrageously popular Riptide Pool Party & Tea Dance. The aforementioned DJ Corey Craig presided over the turntables sharing the bill with Steve Sidewalk and Drew G.
As one party reveler put it: "Just look around...this is a party for everyone! It’s just the best time ever!" If you weren’t a part of Sand Blast 2012, don’t worry - it’ll be back next year. In the meantime check out our photo album covering the event.
