Obama Thanks Alleged Gay Porn Producer at Ore. Fundraiser

President Barack Obama recently thanked Terry Bean at a fundraiser in Portland, Ore. Bean is a political fundraiser and LGBT rights activist who has been called a "gay-porn kingpin" by the New York Post, the Weekly Standard reported.

The Post and other conservative news sources have no such problem with the man who is by far the biggest contributor to Mitt Romney's campaign. Sheldon Adelson made his vast fortune from Las Vegas gambling. (On the right-wing scale of damnable vices, filming people making love apparently tops one-armed bandits wiping out retirement incomes.)

"I want to thank someone who put so much work into this event, Terry Bean," Obama said. "Give Terry a big round of applause."

Obama thanked Bean for organizing the event.

Wikipedia describes Bean as "a pioneer of the LGBT rights movement" and is known for co-founding a number of national LGBT right groups, such as the Human Rights Campaign, the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and the National Gay Games. He is also the CEO and president of Bean Investment Real Estate.

But a 2008 New York Post article claims the businessman is a "gay-porn king pin" and one of Obama's bundlers "who has raised $50,000 to $100,000 for the Barack Obama presidential campaign." The article goes on to say Bean is "the biggest producer of gay porn in America."

"Bean, the first gay on Sen. Obama's National Finance Committee, is the sole trustee of the Charles M. Holmes Foundation, which owned Falcon Studios, Jock Studios, and Mustang Studios, the producers of about $10 million worth of all-male pornography a year," the Post article reads.

The Post reported "In 2002, Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongowski returned a $15,000 contribution from Conwest to avoid the 'taint' of the porn connection." Bean was the CEO of Conwest Resources - the company that owned Falcon Studios before Holmes died.

"I asked the company to donate, and they did. To avoid the appearance of anything, he [Kulongowski] returned it," Bean told Page Six. "I never had anything to do with running the company . . . Chuck became a friend of mine, and I got him interested in philanthropy."

A spokesman for the president also spoke with Page Six about the incident.

"Mr. Bean does not own the company [Falcon]. He is a regular contributor to state and federal candidates, including Republican Senator Gordon Smith and Arizona Congressman Jim Kolbe, and has even donated to the Log Cabin Republicans - who endorsed John McCain."

A conservative Washington, D.C.-based news website the Daily Caller joined in the fray. "Now, now, we should be tolerant and openminded," a contributor wrote. "There's nothing wrong with gay porn - if you think so, that means you hate gay people, and that makes you a bigot - so there's nothing wrong with mentioning, whenever we feel like it, that one of Obama's fundraisers used to make gay porn. It's a good thing."

The article continued with: "After all, everybody knows that Obama is:" and included an image of the infamous Obama is "The First Gay President" Newsweek cover.

"NTTAWWT! Oh yeah, and Chick-Fil-A is evil or something. Don't eat there, unless of course you want some delicious chicken," the article concludes. The Daily Caller's editor-in-chief is Tucker Carlson - a conservative commentator for Fox News.

Several of the website's readers left comments about the story. One reader wrote, "For some reason, I'm beginning to think Obama's queer. By all past and current definitions of the word," and other user said, "We seem to be living in a topsy-turvey world. Porn, whether it be, gay or straight, no longer hides in the shadows, but it's out in full view. Even libraries are allowing their patrons to view porn on their computers."

Adelson, who is committed to donating up to $100 million to a Super PAC to defeat Obama, made his money as from his casino businesses, which include the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, as well as the Sands Expo and Convention Center. He is reportedly worth $24.9 billion.
