W Hotels' 'Turn It Up For Change' Campaign Takes Over Hollywood

W Hotels' Turn It Up For Change, a fundraising and awareness initiative in the fight for nationwide LGBT marriage equality, continues to amp up its presence in marquee events across the country. Put forth by W Hotels in partnership with Jennifer Hudson and the Human Rights Campaign, the Turn It Up For Change Ball at W Hollywood is the fourth such event celebrating the partnership.

Inspired by the legendary voguing balls of the mid to late 1980s chronicled in Jennie Livingstone's seminal documentary "Paris is Burning," Emmy Award-winning television personality, host, fashion designer, singer and actress Kelly Osbourne, vogue scene veteran Jack Mizrahi, famed promoter Legendary Damon and RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race winner Chad Michaels hosted the evening.

The ball opened with words by Kelly Osbourne and Chad Michaels and a performance by Jennifer Hudson, following with some of the celebrity world's fiercest critics and award presenters, including Dita Von Teese, Liberty Ross, Alysia Reiner, Margot Bingham, Ladyfag, and Ciara, judging performers in a number of categories inspired by the culture of marriage and highlighting various parts of the LGBT community. An after party continued on the roof of W Hollywood.

Turn It Up For Change launched in October 2014 and combines W's longstanding support of the LGBT community with its ongoing passion for music. In partnership with HRC and Jennifer Hudson, W hopes to bring about real and lasting change for LGBT Americans in all 50 states. As part of the program, W Hotels around the country currently host monthly Turn It Up For Change music events, in which 20 percent of proceeds is donated to HRC. Some events, such as this one at W Hollywood, will include appearances by Jennifer Hudson.
