Bachmann Puts Online Foot in Mouth With Airline Crash Analogy

Former U.S. Rep from Minnesota Michele Bachmann (R) may be retired from politics, but apparently she's still employed full-time in stupidity.

In a futile attempt to remain relevant in the wake of her recent (and welcome) departure from national politics, Bachmann took to social media Tuesday to compare the Obama administration's pending negotiations with Iran over nuclear weaponry to the German airliner that intentionally crashed in the French Alps in March.

In a post on her Facebook page Tuesday, the four-term congressional rep from Stillwater, Min., said:

With his Iran deal, Barack Obama is for the 300 million souls of the United States what Andreas Lubitz was for the 150 souls on the German Wings (sic) flight - a deranged pilot flying his entire nation into the rocks. After the fact, among the smoldering remains of American cities, the shocked survivors will ask, why did he do it?"

Bachmann's post quickly went viral on Facebook setting off a backlash of comments.

Wayne Bessen of Truth Wins Out wrote:

"I'm worried. If any person is an expert on deranged it is Michele Bachmann."

Other comments included:

"You know this post is in extreme bad taste, right? No matter your opinion on Obama and his policies to compare that to what happened to those 149 people on that tragic flight shows a complete lack of human empathy. You are tasteless and a disgrace to Minnesotans. At least those brought up right.
You obviously have nothing substantial to add to the conversation."

"You are a terrible American for suggesting this and should be investigated for speaking out against the president of the United States. I can not believe you would liken the president to a murderer. And by the way there WERE NO SURVIVORS of the German Wings flight. Get your facts right for once."

"Way to politicize a tragedy, lady."

"You REAAAALLLLY need to refill your prescriptions, chick."
