In New Interview, Amazon Exec Gives Update on Final Season of 'Transparent'

The ending of Amazon's critically acclaimed "Transparent" is apparently taking shape.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon Studios president Jennifer Salke offered an update on the award-winning series, which starred Jeffrey Tambor as Maura Pfefferman, a trans woman. Tambor was fired from "Transparent" by Amazon earlier this year amid claims of sexual harassment, which the actor denies.
"Transparent" showrunner Jill Soloway recently said they see the show's fifth season being the end of the show. THR asked Salke how the series will "move forward without Tambor" and if the role of Maura Pfefferman will be recast with someone else.
"I don't think the character will be recast. Jill has a great idea about how she wants to close it," Salke said (it should be noted that Soloway identifies as gender non-binary and uses they/them pronouns). "We're talking about, is it a full series? Is it a limited special? Is it a movie? What is it?
"There's a conversation around what form best serves the creative, and she wanted to spend the summer thinking about the creative, and then we're going to get together in September and talk about that," Salke added.
In May, Soloway commented on the fate of "Transparent" when speaking with THR for a feature about Tambor.
"Hopefully it sets the Pfeffermans up with some sort of beautiful reclaiming," they said. "I think we're going to get there with some time."
