PopUps: Weeks After Outcry, Justin Bieber Shaves His Head

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Justin Bieber shaved his head over the weekend, weeks after coming under fire for wearing a controversial hairstyle that sparked accusations of cultural appropriation.

After rocking locs for weeks, Bieber shared a photo of himself alongside wife Hailey Bieber, sporting a buzz cut. "Happy Sunday," he captioned pic. He also shared a black-and-white close-up photo of his new 'do to his Instagram Stories.

Back in April, Bieber sparked outrage when he debuted his locs. On social media, the Canadian pop star was met with accusations of cultural appropriation and being racially insensitive.

As CNN broke it down at the time: "Dreadlocks are traditionally connected to the culture and identities of Black people, and wearing them is viewed by some as cultural appropriation."
The outlet added, "On social media some Black women called Bieber's hairstyle offensive and disrespectful and urged him to change it and apologize. Others defended him, saying he can wear his hair the way he wants."

Nevertheless, Bieber never addressed the drama and continued to share several photos and videos of himself with the hairstyle.

This isn't the first time Bieber has gotten heat for his hair choices – in fact, he came under fire for sporting locs and cornrows in the past. Click here to read more about that.
