There Is a New 'Downton Abbey' Series Secretly On the Way

Get ready to Downton again. Everyone's favorite period drama, "Downton Abbey," is reportedly coming back after nearly a decade with a new revival series.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the revival of the hit ITV show reportedly began filming in secret a few weeks ago, with a debut planned for the end of the year.

Quoting a source close to the production, Daily Mail reports that "filming has been going on for a few weeks now, it is all very, very secret. There are people working on it who have never seen secrecy like it."

Mhmm. But we need more receipts than that.

The source added, "Those working on the set have been made to sign non-disclosure agreements so that they don't give the game away but there is a lot of excitement at the return of 'Downton'."

"Downton Abbey" originally aired from 2010 to 2015, and the show followed the lives of an aristocratic Yorkshire family in the years between 1912 and 1926. The cast included Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Joanne Froggatt, Dan Stevens and Maggie Smith. It was reportedly Smith's trepidation about returning for more seasons that brought the show to a close. But after two feature film sequels, creator Julian Fellowes always left the door open for a comeback.

Fellowes told the Radio Times: "I have said goodbye to 'Downton' so many times, and I have written the last scene about six or seven times. Now I've got out of the habit of making permanent statements about whether it's gone."
