Andrew Scott Is Creepy in 'Ripley' Trailer, But Did Matt Damon Do It Better?

Andrew Scott is creepy and conniving as the star sociopath in the upcoming Netflix limited series, "Ripley."
Available for screening April 4, the series is based off of Patricia Highsmight's bestselling novel Tom Ripley novels and follows a wealthy man who hired Ripley (played by Scott) to convince his son to return home. Accepting the challenge, Ripley spins a web of "deceit, fraud and murder" that spins out of control.
The setup and story line is similar to the film "The Talented Mr. Ripley" starring Matt Damon, but the similarities beg the question: Which Ripley is creepier?
The 1999 film "The Talented Mr. Ripley," including Jude Law as Dickie Greenleaf and Gwyneth Paltrow as Marge Sherwood, was a bright and impeccably styled movie that is still referenced today. Yet Netflix's take on the story seems dark and brooding, and most notably it seems to be all shot in black in white, featuring Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy and John Malkovich in the cast.
