Downton Abbey Coming Back for Third, 'Final' Movie

Our favorite show about the British high society of yesteryear and the people who serve them is coming back for a 'final' film chapter, according to star Imelda Staunton.
Staunton, who played Queen Mary's lady-in-waiting Lady Maud Bagshaw in the first two films, confirmed the news in a BBC Radio 2 breakfast interview with Zoe Ball, reported Deadline.
About the film, Staunton seemed like she just wanted to stop all the questions about the film. "There will be the final film – there you go," she told Ball. And when asked whether she would get in trouble for the revelation, Staunton replied, "I don't care."
This news comes after rumors have been swirling that there is a new Downton series in the works.
A report in The Sun on Wednesday claimed that the third movie will film at Highclere Castle over the summer and premiere next year. The report also stated that "The Holdovers" star Paul Giamatti is expected to reprise his role as Harold Levinson, the brother of the Countess of Grantham, after he stepped into the role in the 2013 Christmas special.
About letting go of the critically-acclaimed franchise he created, Julian Fellowes had previously spoken about how difficult it has been to close the Downton chapter.
"They say goodbye, everyone cries, and two years later we're back at it," he told the Radio Times. "I think each time it's goodbye, but whether it is or not, who knows?"
No one ever knows when it comes to Downton.
