Best New Designers 2013
Though we’re reveling in the fabulousness of a Southern California Summer, Fall 2013 is fast approaching. This means stores will begin stocking shelves with the best and brightest new fashions throughout the world. As we make the sartorial choices that will take us through fall and into 2014, here are the five newest designers making stylish waves!
WHO: Matt Baldwin, the former snowboarder (and major hottie!), earned his degree from L.A.’s famed FIDM then returned to Kansas City to open his first boutique 10 years ago.
WHAT: Super cool minimalist men’s and women’s shirts, pants, denim and accessories with an Americana vibe.
WHO: Paige Mycoskie (of "Amazing Race" fame) is the sister of Blake Mycoskie, who created the now ubiquitous TOMS shoe company.
Aviator Nation came about because of Paige’s obsession with finding the perfect vintage tees. Necessity is the mother of invention and, in this case, great design.
WHAT: Super cool tees, sweatshirts and hoodies
with a decidedly ’70s hip, California vibe.
WHO: Brothers Liam and Sammy Fayed founded this menswear brand, whose motto is, "We’re part Savile Row, part Rock’n’Roll."
WHAT: Hand cut and sewn shirts, made to measure suits and classic menswear with a modern twist.
STYLISH MUST-HAVE: The Woodland Camo Blazer and matching Formal Trouser!
WHO: Ernest Alexander Sabine founded his company in 2009 with one goal; making the perfect bag. He nailed it.
WHAT: American-made menswear and accessories (the hand-made satchels are to die for) with an edgy-meets-preppy aesthetic.
STYLISH MUST-HAVE: Ernest Alexander Banker’s Weekender Bag
WHO: Menswear designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne (Asian and African American respectively) just won the CFDA’s Swarovski (yes, the crystals) Menswear Award for 2013-a true rarity in fashion. And yes, this means they are major!
WHAT: Chic, modern menswear with a fresh, almost futuristic edge all made in New York from fabrics from Japan and Italy.
HERE THEY ARE: The five hottest new designers and brands to covet and they all happen to be made in America. Who says high style can’t be made right here in the good old USA?
Get them while they’re semi-hot because all of these brands are poised to enter the stratosphere!
