8 Tips for Stress-Free Packing

Wednesday Nov 23, 2016

Whether you're flying, driving, or -- God forbid -- taking the bus, packing tips will make your pre-travel planning less stressful. EDGE enlisted the expert advice of Mahesh Chaddah, co-founder of for eight essential insights to get you out the door.

1. Roll your clothes for an easy and effective way to add room to your suitcase. It not only creates more space, but can help you better organize your belongings as well.

2. Take advantage of laundry rooms and services. By re-wearing clothes during your trip, it allows you to pack less and have more room in your suitcase for other necessary items.

3. Avoid toiletry bags. While using little bags to keep your toothpaste and skin care products is easier, small products like these can fit in the small nooks and crannies of suitcases and eliminate extra bulk. If you're nervous about liquids leaking, wrap bottles in plastic wrap for safety.

4. Don't pack heavy clothes -- wear them. When traveling, wearing your heaviest layer of clothing or coat will take a load off of your suitcase weight. If you must pack these space-stealers, try compression packs to keep the bulk to a minimum.

5. Stuff your shoes. Don't let any extra space go to waste. Filling shoes with socks, toiletries or other small items you plan to pack will free up even more extra space.

6. Use packing cubes. They help organize, prevent wrinkles and stuff more.

7. Compression bags for dirty clothes on your way back creates room for gifts and other items you are bringing home with you. We usually have some extra items to bring back so packing dirty clothes in a compression bag helps save space.

8. Wrap belts insides shirt collars. This helps save space while keeping collars stiff preventing wrinkles.
