Ten-Year-Old Aspiring Drag Artist Targeted by Haters on Facebook

Cyberbullying hit a new low last weekend when the administrator of a Facebook page that purports to promote "libertarian news and humor" directed followers to troll a Facebook page for a 10-year-old gender fluid boy with autism.

Posting a link to the "Desmond is Amazing" page devoted to a 10-year-old boy who enjoys drag, the administrator of "Voter Apathy Party" instructed his followers to troll the tot.

"Head over and give a 1 star review," the administrator wrote. "Woman is manipulating and exploiting her kid for virtue signalling."

According to Desmond's mother, Wendy Lou Napoles, what followed was posts from over 150 people who not only left one star ratings (Desmond's page had a five star rating prior to the hate blitz), but took it upon themselves to taunt the 10-year-old, calling him "slow","ugly", an "abomination" and saying that "he looks like he has AIDS."

In a lengthy post on Facebook Sunday morning, Napoles called out the haters, and made public that Desmond is on the autism spectrum.

"[A]t the end of the day, this 10-year old boy has been able to overcome his disorder's symptoms and behavior issues and become successful in pursuing his interests," Napoles wrote. "He likes dressing up, dance, voguing, and fashion design. HOW ARE THOSE INTERESTS HURTING YOU??? Please, someone explain that to me. Frankly speaking, it takes most people until their adulthood to figure out how to live with any disorder or disease. Desmond feels most focused and comfortable when he is designing his outfits and dressing up. It helps his autism and helps keep his behavior under control, which means he has a high quality of life right now. If it helps with the autism and hurts no one around him, why is this so wrong?"

However, "Voter Apathy Party" felt it necessary to double-down on the harassment and posted "I got zucced by pedophiles. Almost like a real page now."

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the hate page attacked a GoFundMe Campaign set up by friends of Napoles to help the cash-strapped out of work mom get through the holidays.

"Virtue signalling for profit (page is desmond is amazing," the administrator wrote.

And in the comments section "Voter Apathy Party" gloated about taking down the 10-year-old's five star rating. When asked by a follower if the plan to troll the tot worked, "Voter Apathy Party" replied: "Sure did. If you don't want bad reviews, don't open the forum."
