Annette Bening Says She's 'Very, Very Proud' of Trans Son

In a new interview with AARP, actor Annette Bening opened up about her son Stephen Ira, who is transgender, saying she's "very, very proud of him."
Of her 27-year-old child, Bening said he has "managed something that's very challenging with great style and great intelligence."
"He's an articulate, thoughtful person, and I'm very, very proud of him," "The Report" star continued, adding that Ira recently gave her a novel called "Little Fish," which is about a transgender woman who finds that their grandfather may have also been trans.
Bening and her husband Warren Beaty are "newish empty nesters," according to AARP, with their youngest of four children recently attending Juilliard.
