It's a good week for out athlete Gus Kenworthy.

Not only did the free skier recently qualify to represent Team U.S.A. at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea next month, he was also announced as the brand ambassador for Head & Shoulders shampoo, the Cincinnati Business Courier reports.

Kenworthy, who came out as gay after the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, also appears in a new ad for the shampoo, which is a product of Procter & Gamble Co. In the clip, called "Shoulders of Greatness," the athlete says:

"My shoulders carry more than my country's pride. They carry my community's pride..." as Kenwothy's voiceover plays, footage of him holding the rainbow LGBTQ Pride flags is seen.

"...My family's pride and pride in myself," he continues. "Because shoulders were made for greatness, not dandruff."

The ad also shows the buff Kenworthy, 26, showering with his Head & Shoulders shampoo.

He shared the clip on his Instagram account, writing, "You may have already spotted this on TV but I am SO excited to finally be able to share my Head & Shoulders commercial with y'all! Holding up those rainbow colors on national TV makes me feel PROUD! #ShouldersOfGreatness."

"Gus is the embodiment of Shoulders of Greatness," John Brownlee, P&G's brand director for Head & Shoulders, said in a statement. "He has pushed through personal and social barriers to compete at the highest level - and at his personal best. ... We know he will inspire others to shoulder their own greatness, no matter what obstacles they face."

The company also had this to say about their partnership with Kenworthy and the new commercial:

"As the first openly gay action sports athlete, Kenworthy will be featured within the brand's Shoulders of Greatness campaign, which highlights all of the things people carry on their shoulders-pride, pressure, expectations-and how that motivates them to overcome any challenges and focus on achieving greatness. Head & Shoulders celebrates how Kenworthy carries pride in himself, his country, his family and his community, allowing him to achieve greatness as he looks ahead toward PyeongChang."

Kenworthy added:

"I'm thrilled to be part of the Shoulders of Greatness campaign as it resonates with my journey," he said. "Before coming out, I was carrying so much pressure that I put on myself. It wasn't until I made the decision to come out that I was able to release that weight off my shoulders and find the confidence to be myself, which allowed me to perform my best."

Kenworthy isn't the only out athlete representing the U.S. at the Winter Games next month. Figure skater Adam Rippon became the first openly gay male athlete to represent Team U.S.A. at the Winter Games.
