All I Ever Wanted

Every year we can expect some good old pop music to make its way into the socially conscious, especially living in an era where most of the artists that make their way onto radio are all engineered via YouTube or Spotify. Once upon a time we wholly were dependent on songs that were audibly infectious - they burned themselves into our brains with their catchy hooks. We called them "earworms" - they burrowed in deep and were impossible to get out.

Pop's latest confection brands herself easily enough! Kady Rain is delivering pure, bubblegum pop music on her latest EP entitled "All I Ever Wanted." Reminiscent of other similarly crafted pop divas including Katy Perry and the life, Kady Rain looked to simple melodies crafted by the likes of N*SYNC and pop bands like Aqua to inspire her sound. As a teenager, the eager performer organized her own slumber parties and captivated her guests.

It's simple enough, the music that is - and it easily reminds the listener of an easier time. The title track "All I Ever Wanted" is a danceable and giddy track with all the expected happy riffs that make for the perfect party track, especially if you're appealing to a tween audience. Kady no doubt studied the market as she worked diligently to learn to play the guitar, and by the age of 15 she had started her first band. Listening to "R.A.D. Moves" it's very easy to pick up on all her pop cues.

With influences that move between traditional pop/rock and pure radio-friendly harmonies, Kady Rain managed her ambition thoroughly working through several music producers until finding a kindred spirit in Ben Bazzarea and the result is the setlist on this EP. It's not profoundly deep, it's pop music, but it's good, and Kady Rain knows her strengths. "Rue the Day" is the EP's best sounding, most enriching track and shows great promise.
