Kate Winslet revealed in an interview with The Sunday Times this week that she knows "at least" four actors who won't publicly come out because they're worried doing so will negatively impact their careers.

The Oscar-winning actor said the actors in question are "well-known" and "fear" Hollywood's response if they came out, believing it would cost them roles, The Independent points out.

"I cannot tell you the number of young actors I know — some well known, some starting out — who are terrified their sexuality will be revealed and that it will stand in the way of their being cast in straight roles," Winslet, 45, said.

She went on to say one of the "well-known" actors was recently told by an American agent to keep their bisexuality a secret.

"The agent said: 'I understand you are bisexual — I wouldn't publicize that.' " Winslet said. "I can think of at least four actors absolutely hiding their sexuality. It's painful. Because they fear being found out."

Winslet, who stars in the queer 2020 film "Ammonite," lashed out against the "judgment, discrimination and homophobia" in Hollywood.
