Adam Demos has a Big Moment in Netflix's 'Sex/Life'

Monday June 28, 2021

Since it dropped last Friday, the new Netflix series "Sex/Life" is trending as one of the streamer's sexiest new shows.

"There are multiple sex scenes, a literal butt ton of nudity, and at least one Fidelio-meets-Martha Stewart sex party in the suburbs. Sex/Life sometimes feels a modesty pad away from full-out pornography," writes Decider.

The eight-episode series is inspired by the book "44 Chapters About 4 Men" by BB Easton and was created for TV by Stacy Rukeyser. It explores issues of marital fidelity and desire amongst some randy suburbanites and centers on a seemingly happily married woman, Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi), with a husband Cooper Connelly (Mike Vogel) and two children, whose life is upended when an old boyfriend, Brad Simon (Adam Demos) returns. She writes about in her diary, which her husband reads, and sets out to find Simon.

About twenty minutes into episode three, he finds Simon at his gym and follows him into the locker room.

"Why? Why do you think?" Decider writes. "He literally wants to see what Brad is packing, penis-wise. The camera actually lingers briefly on Brad's private parts and then cuts to Cooper's deflated expression. Yes, Brad has a big dick and Billie wants it."

Just say that from the looks of things Cooper has much to worry about. The scene has what will likely be the most paused moment in Netflix's history.

Ruth Kinane at Entertainment Weekly must have heard of Demos's shower scene because in an exchange with the actor in an interview she asked, "I feel like there will be some pretty, um, big discussions on social media." It came after asking if he followed the option of using a body double, to which he indicated he hadn't, saying, "I was okay with it because you read the script and know what you're getting yourself into from the start, so I don't think you would sign on to a show after reading the scripts and then say no last minute. That doesn't mean you can't have discussions about comfort level, which they allowed us to have - and with the intimacy coordinator, so it felt a lot safer."

Now in one of those art-reflecting-life moments, Demos and Shahi are an item, according to People.

"I said, 'Well, that's a tall drink of water.' When I first met Adam, I was really blown away with him," Shahi said. "We met in the makeup trailer and we just got on instantly. We had the exact same taste in music. We had the same taste in whiskey and tequilas and I was really blown away by him just as a person and all I knew was that I wanted more."

The couple haven't exactly kept their relationship private, having made numerous postings on social media.

Demos is best-known for a role on Lifetime series
"UnREAL," in which he played a hot, shaggy humanitarian on the third season. He also starred in Netflix's rom-com "Falling Inn Love" in 2019, playing a hot, shaggy construction worker. In real life, two years ago, he had worked construction for five or six years before acting.
