Out Actor Lee Pace Put a Ring On It... Did He Marry His Longtime BF?
At the Met Gala on Monday, out actor Lee Pace put a ring on it and the internet is wild with speculation that he has married Matthew Foley, whom he has been dating since 2017.
The 6'5" actor, who is best known for for his role on "Pushing Daisies", the cult ABC series that aired for two seasons that is currently streaming on HBO Max, and for roles in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2", "Guardians of the Galaxy", and his role as Thranduil in the "The Hobbit" franchise.
He posted an Instagram in which he cut a handsome profile in a black tie and a pair of signature Thom Brown shorts with garters holding up a pair of mix-matched socks and black boots. "Thank you Thom and Andrew, it was a night to remember," he wrote on the post, acknowledging the designer and his husband Andrew Bolton, who had invited Pace and Foley to the event. Bolton is the head curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, where the Met Gala is held, while Foley works for Brown where he is the Vice President of Communication.
"Though the main focus was obviously Lee (and his knees) looking handsome AF in one of Thom's signature short suits, we couldn't help but notice that Pace was also stepping his accessory game up, wearing some Fred Leighton diamonds around his left wrist and showing off what looks to be a gold band on his left ring finger — the finger someone traditionally wears a ring on when they are married," reports Out Magazine.
A few days before the event, Esquire profiled Pace as he prepared for it. "'I've been, under the best circumstances, pretty much a hermit up here, so I don't get out much,' he says in a warm, Northeastern accent, over the phone from upstate New York a few days before the event," the Esquire profile reads. "'I've never experienced anything quite like it where the red carpet is so major,' says Pace. 'It's a very old-fashioned experience. So I'm down for that, and it's fun to be a part of it.'"
In March, Pace thanked his fans — including his bf Foley — via Instagram for sending him birthday messages on his 42nd birthday. "Thinking back over the past year.... I am struck by a deep feeling of gratitude. For my health. For the people I have shared this year with. My family. Matthew. The unforgettable cast and crew of #Foundation. For ALL of the individuals, in my country, and abroad who have risen to the challenge of this pandemic. The health care workers, the teachers, the food delivery folks, grocery workers, postal workers.... everywhere I look, I see reasons to be grateful."
Expect Pace to be getting a lot of media attention in upcoming weeks when AppleTV+ releases "Foundation" on September 24 in which the actor plays one of the show's leads. The futuristic sci-fi series concerns The Foundation, an organization that controls the universe, and the rebels who discover they need to destroy it in order to save it.
