Tops and bottoms often pair up. That's as true with hamburgers as it is with humans. But Burger King Austria is mixing it up with a special edition Pride Whopper that features two "top" buns or two "bottom" buns, Today reported.

"With two equal buns for equal love and equal rights," an Instagram post from Burger King Austria says (translated from German).

Saying that the company is providing "an example for the equality of all identities and sexual orientations," the post called the Pride Whopper "A little twist" on the usual formula "that will bring a smile to the face and remind us to treat each other with respect and peace."

"No matter who you are and who you love," the post added.

The photos included with the post, and the post itself, bore the tag line "Time to be Proud."

"The burger includes either two top sesame seed buns or bottom buns," Today detailed, "and includes the classic Whopper ingredients: A flame-grilled beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles[,] mayo and ketchup."

"The burger is customizable and also has a plant-based option," the report noted.

Proud LGBTQ+ Austrians and allies (and international travelers, of course) can enjoy the Pride edition Whopper through June 20.

Noting that the company "has been a supporter of Pride Month and LGBTQ+ rights," the story recalled that in 2021 Burger King "donated 40 cents from the purchase of every Ch'King sold that month (up to a maximum donation of $250,000) to the Human Rights Campaign, the country's largest LGBTQ advocacy group."

As part of last year's Pride campaign, Burger King put itself in direct contrast with Chick-fil-A, Today noted, by advertising that its restaurants are open on Sundays, as well as promoting its support of the Human Rights Campaign.

Chik-fil-A, on the other hand, is known for supporting anti-LGBTQ+ groups.
