Lil Nas X is expecting... his new album. And People magazine is celebrating it with some over-the-top pics of the out pop star in a late stage of pregnancy wearing a flower crown.

"Lil Nas X is officially expecting a 'baby' — due Sept. 17," reads the post.

Lil Nas X also tweeted a composite of the pics with the words: "SURPRISE! I can't believe i'm finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy "MONTERO" is due September 17, 2021."

The "Industry Baby" rapper told People he came up with idea for the shoot after listening to Megan Thee Stallion's verse on his new song "Dolla Sign Slime" for the first time.

"I was like, 'Oh my God, this is amazing,' so I immediately called my stylist," he says. "She was like, 'Wow, this all comes together. Your album. Your baby.' I was like, 'Yeah, this is my baby, huh?' As a joke, she was like, 'Yeah, you should do a pregnancy shoot,'" he said.

Lil Nas X went with the idea, which came days after he spoofed a Drake's "Certified Lover Boy" cover art of emojis of pregnant women with an IG of emojis of pregnant men.

"I was like, 'There's no way the universe is lining up this perfect for this to happen," he says with a laugh."

Asked whether the album is an immaculate conception of sorts, Lil Nas X responds, "I guess I am the father as well as the mother. But I guess the producers who worked on it are like the dads too," he says, before giving it another thought: "Or maybe uncles."

He created "Montero" during lockdown and tweeted last week he found the experience therapeutic. "[C]reating this album has been therapy for me. i've learned to let go of trying to control people's perception of who i am, what i can do, and where i will be. i've realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own."

He elaborated with People: "The only person that really has to believe in me is myself. It's been a lot of self-affirmations this year that I probably would not have been able to do two years ago."

In 2019 Lady Gaga responded to rumors she was pregnant in a similar fashion. "Rumors I'm pregnant?" she wrote, adding, "Yeah, I'm pregnant with #LG6."

"LG6 is Twitter speak for Lady Gaga six, or Mother Monster's sixth album, which is likely due out sometime this year," EDGE wrote.
