Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Apologize for Plantation Wedding
Ryan Reynolds and wife Blake Lively are apologizing for having their 2012 wedding on a former plantation in South Carolina, CNN reports.
In a new interview with Fast Company, it was mention that Reynolds came under fire when he tweeted in 2018 about his support for the Marvel movie "Black Panther." Reynolds then went on to apologize for marrying Lively at Boone Hall, saying it was "something we'll always be deeply and reservedly sorry for."
"It's impossible to reconcile," the "Deadpool" said. "What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy."
Reynolds added that a mistake like that can "cause you to shut down or it can re-frame things and move you into action."
CNN notes the couple has donated $200,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund and $1 million in donations to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights.
