Tom Ford on Jake Gyllenhaal: 'You Should See What's Down There'

Wednesday September 28, 2016

Fashion designer and director Tom Ford is a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal's chest and pubic hair, and really, who isn't?!

Gyllenhaal stars in Ford's upcoming thriller "Nocturnal Animals" and the out filmmaker recently spoke with Vulture about the flick as well as its stars.

"We are physical creatures," he said. "Touch your chair - it's velvet. That feels good, doesn't it? A steak, if you eat meat, tastes great. A fur coat, or cashmere, feels good. Things that are beautiful, we enjoy."

"I want a movie to be a movie!" Ford later added. "We have enough reality. I want the score to be big, I want the characters to be big, I want people to be more beautiful than they are in real life!"

And apparently Ford wants Gyllenhaal to be Gyllenhaal! As Vulture writer Kyle Buchanan points out, the shots of the actor in the trailer for "Nocturnal Animals" shows with a hairy chest. Buchanan adds a number of Gyllenhaal's recent films, like "Nightcrawler," "Southpaw" and "Demolition," features a shaved-chest Gyllenhaal.

"It just never occurred to me that he should shave his chest!" Ford said. "I happen to like body hair. I think people should leave it alone - I'm not a fan of all this manscaping that goes on. I don't really get it."

Ford didn't stop there.

"If you like the chest, you should see what's down here," he told Vulture. "There is no manscaping." Ford repeated it for emphasis: "There is no manscaping."

Buchanan said Ford walked him to the door after their interview and winked, adding, "Nice talking to you. I'll get Jake to show you his bush sometime."
