Ann Wilson, lead singer of the legendary Seattle rock band Heart, releases a new single on Friday.

"Tender Heart," a new original song by Wilson, has a strong R&B flavor with electric piano, B-3 organ, acoustic guitar, bass and drums as a bedrock for her powerful, emotive lead vocal. Wilson wrote the lyrics on Heart's 2019 tour, saying "this song is for the soul whose heart is blindsided by reality but is still soft and innocent."

The new song follows her cover of Steve Earle's "The Revolution Starts Now," released in October; the now-sold-out vinyl edition includes a cover of "Rooster" by fellow Seattle-ites and friends of Heart, Alice in Chains.

"Tender Heart" is also Wilson's first new original music since her solo EP "focus" (with Wilson co-writes on "fighten fer life" and "anguish") and "I Jump" on Heart's last studio album "Beautiful Broken," all released in 2016. She has teased more new music in the coming year.

Nancy Wilson, Ann's sister and iconic guitarist and occasional lead singer on Heart classics such as "These Dreams," "Hey You" and more, will also release new music this year. Her debut studio album is due in the Spring. The album has been preceded with a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "The Rising."
