Another homophobic attack has marred this Pride month in its first week, as a lesbian couple in London was beaten on public transport. The couple, Melania Geymonat and her partner Chris, were harassed by a group of four teenagers on May 30, but only told their story publicly on June 5.

The couple say they were riding the bus together when, after seeing them kiss, a group of teenagers approached them and "started behaving like hooligans, demanding that we kissed so they could enjoy watching, calling us 'lesbians' and describing sexual positions," she wrote in her post to Facebook.

The boys continued to harass the couple, throwing coins at them and growing more enthusiastic. "The next thing I know is that Chris is in the middle of the bus fighting with them," Geymonat said. "On an impulse, I went over there only to find her face bleeding and three of them beating her up. The next thing I know is I'm being punched."

London Mayor Sadiq Khan responded to the attack on Twitter, calling it a "a disgusting, misogynistic attack."

The metropolitan police have arrested four teenage males in connection with the attack on suspicion of "robbery and aggravated grievous bodily harm." according to a police statement to CNN.

Geymonat also told CNN it was "not the first time in my life I have felt violated, even though it is the first time my nose has been broken."

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn also took to Twitter to condemn the attack, calling it "absolutely shocking."

Geymonat suffered a broken nose from the attack, according to the BBC, and she hasn't been able to return to work yet. However, the couple is undaunted and is not afraid to be themselves in public after the attack. Geymonat's partner, Chris, had the following to say: "I am not scared about being visibly queer. If anything, you should do it more," according to the same BBC article.
