The family and friends of a local Gay Men's Chorus singer are mourning his tragic death this week.

As reported by Fox KTVU, 53-year-old Curtis Marsh was reportedly fatally stabbed over the weekend at his apartment in the Lake Merit area of Oakland, California.

Neighbors reportedly heard a horrendous scene playing out.

"I heard screams, help, help. I got up," a neighbor described, who wished to remain anonymous. "My neighbor on the 4th floor was screaming and hollering that Curtis was dead. I was able to view his body. He was laying on his balcony bloodied."

Police said no one's been arrested and have not reported a potential motive.

Meanwhile, Marsh's family and friends are remembering him for his love of life and singing.

"We love Curtis. He was a very special person in our life," said DeeDee Twine, saying Marsh was like a brother to her.

"He was very sweet, very funny," said Steven Smith with Oakland Gay Men's Chorus. "He was an accomplished musician. Beautiful, beautiful voice."

Twine and Marsh had known each other since the 6th grade, and the two of them moved from Iowa to the Bay Area in 1995 while in their mid-20s.

"For the life of me, I can not imagine who would put him in harm's way. Curtis was good to a lot of people," said Twine.
