Louisiana police are currently investigating racist and anti-gay fliers, which call for the death of gay people in order to eradicate HIV and AIDS, from the Ku Klux Klan, local CBS-affiliate news station WWLTV reports.

A number of residents in the Mandeville, La., area said they found plastic bags with a rock or candy and a flier inside, which were reportedly left by members of the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. WWLTV reports the fliers have appeared in communities throughout the country all summer.

According to Pink News, the fliers urge people to join the KKK and slaughter gay people to "save our land, join the Klan, white power."

"Stop Aids: Support Gay Bashing," one of the flyers reportedly reads. "Homosexual men and their sexual acts are disgusting and inhuman."

"Our race is our nation," another flier reads, according to Pink Star News.

The fliers also include a website and a phone number for those interested in joining the KKK.

"I'm extremely hurt by it. As a member of the gay community... I think it shows the ignorance of society still," a woman told WWLTV.

Local authorities are investigating the fliers.

"There's no doubt they're trying to deliver a hateful message, and we take it very serious," St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain told the news station. "But at this point, we have to talk to our victim. We have to determine a lot of things including how it got there, when it got there, when she discovered it."

The local FBI office is also monitoring the situation for any possible federal violations.

Police in Newton County, Ga., also said they are investigating similar fliers from the KKK, according to WSB-TV Atlanta.
