Tale as old as time: a hyper-masculine, right-wing internet troll, moonlighting as a man of righteousness, is accused of fabricating a fake image to escape the very thing he claims to protest.

That's right. As reported by The Daily Beast, conservative pastor and influential anti-gay political pundit Jesse Lee Peterson is accused of hiding several past gay relationships.

"Two of Peter's former male associates came out in June with on-the-record interviews saying they engaged in sexual activities with him, while other men say he propositioned them," the Daily Beast reports. "These allegations about the pastor — who in public is staunchly heterosexual — have ripped like an earthquake through the manosphere, prompting some of Peterson's allies to abandon him and prompting one manosphere conference to ban him."

Peterson has become a star in conservative media for his archaic views of gender roles. To give you an idea, he claimed that if a woman is "becoming a man" if she orgasms during sex and should not. he also claimed that people who march in pride parades are "radical homosexuals" and are "evil."

Patrick Rooney, who claims to have had a sexual relationship with Peterson, told Daily Beast that he is "very sorry to have Jesse's situation damage the conservative movement."

However, Rooney also told the Daily Beast that he doesn't have emails, text messages, or recordings that could prove his allegations.

The allegations were reportedly not able to be substantiated, and Peterson's ministry a California "brotherhood organization" known as BOND, did not respond to requests for comment.

Allegations challenging Peterson's past began in June after Church Militant, a radical right-wing Catholic website that once hosted Milo Yiannopoulos, released an investigation into the allegations against him.

As part of the investigation, the church interviewed Rooney and another man on video who claimed to have had sexual contact with Peterson.

Once friends, Peterson once praised Rooney on his show as "one of the smartest white men this side of heaven." Then according to Rooney, their friendship turned sexual.

"Next thing you know, he's ripping his clothes off," Rooney alleged.

This whole thing sounds messy but on brand for anti-gay figureheads. We will be watching to see how this ends.
