EDGE Rewind: Singer Teraj & BF Barry Hoy Share Prides Around the World on New Series
EDGE is reaching into its archive and sharing some of our favorite stories from the past.
How about a travel series of Prides around the world? That is the idea behind a new travel series from Out Traveler and equalpridevideo, called "Making It With Pride" that is hosted by American pop and R&B singer Teraj and his boyfriend, Barry Hoy. "Teraj is the host of the Amazon Alexa podcast Gay Travel Today and his partner, Barry Hoy (also known as Asianmapleleaf on Instagram), is a travel write," writes the website Star Observer
The first season of "Out Traveler" will include stopovers in London, Miami, Toronto, St Maarten and Virginia Black Pride. In the series Teraj returns to his hometown, Miami, where he's seen performing at the first in-person Pride that has been hosted since the lockdown brought on by Covid-19.
Teraj released his first CD "Defy" in 2019, only to see his music career stalled by the pandemic. He described the album as being "anchored in messages of empowerment to overcome obstacles, adversity, courageously chase your dreams, and live boldly in your authentic truth."
He added: "As a male living at the intersection of my Blackness and queerness, it was important to me to share those stories and show others out there that they aren't alone and that they, too, can defy the odds."
Teraj wrote of their experiences shooting in London on Instagram.
"Our time in London was nothing short of a chapter in a romance novel. This was my first visit and I didn't expect to be surrounded by so much beauty everywhere my eyes gazed. Whenever a rainbow in the sky shows up, seemingly out of nowhere, we know we're in for something special. Lo and behold, a rainbow showed up as soon as we exited the Piccadilly Circus station and special, is an understatement to describe this entirety of this trip. I was completely captivating by London and felt the spirit of love and Pride no matter where we went. Can't wait to show y'all more from this experience, so stay tuned! @asianmapleleaf @lovegreatbritain_usca @prideinlondon"
