Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj Almost Featured on Lil Nas X's 'Montero' Album
Now that Lil Nas X's "Montero" is finally here and making waves in the pop music stratosphere, fans have questions about the album's features (and lack thereof).
So Nas X took to Twitter to answer a few burning questions, as reported by Billboard, in a revealing Q&A session.
He shared that he hoped for several more collaborations on the album, including Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, but everything needed to line up for the right song.
"When a fan enquired if Lil Nas would ever work on a track with the 'Rain on Me' singer [Lady Gaga], the rapper replied, 'yes I actually wanted a song with her on the album but I never finished writing to it & sending it to her,'" Billboard reports. "Another fan asked Lil Nas which song he sent to Minaj for her to feature on. Turns out it was none other than 'Industry Baby,' which features Jack Harlow and reached the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. In a Sept. 16 interview with The Breakfast Club, Lil Nas said he received 'no reply from Nicki' about working on a track together."
The "Old Town Road" rapper also revealed that "Scoop" almost didn't feature Doja Cat and would have featured Ski Mask. But according to Nas X, addressing the topic of why he has yet to work with Black male rappers, "a lot of them just don't fwm tbh."
Additionally, a new song collaboration with Sam Smith and a music video titled "Empathy" is likely on the way, says Nas X.
