John Kasich Says SCOTUS 'Has Spoken' on Gay Marriage

Unlike Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Donald Trump, GOP presidential hopeful John Kasich will not try to get the Supreme Court's landmark ruling on same-sex marriage overturned, should he be elected.

At a town hall event at Michigan State University Tuesday, the Ohio governor was asked about LGBT rights and same-sex marriage by a gay college student, NBC News reports.

Kasich started his answer by telling the student he has attended a friend's same-sex wedding and had a good time, but the student pressed the politician.

"I don't think that's enough for you to say you've been to a gay wedding," the student said.

"Well, we're not changing any laws. We're not changing. We're not going to allow discrimination on this. ... The court has spoken. That's the end of it," Kasich said, referring to the high court's decision last summer, according to NBC News.

Both Cruz and Rubio have vowed to overturn SCOTUS' ruling on same-sex marriage. This week, Rubio doubled down on his anti-gay marriage rhetoric and even created an advisory board about marriage. Trump hasn't been so straightforward on the issue, but suggested, if elected president, he would try to reverse the decision.
