'Finding Dory' May Feature Pixar's First Lesbian Couple

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

The new trailer for Disney-Pixar's "Finding Dory" is causing a big stir online.

Some fans are pointing to the latest clip for the long awaited "Finding Nemo" sequel, speculating the trailer showcases a same-sex couple, USA Today notes.

In the video, Hank the Octopus, voiced by Ed O'Neill, somehow ends up in a baby carriage. A woman is first seen bending down to pick up a baby's sippy cup and says, "Poor baby, let me get that for you."

The camera then cuts and shows two women, who are shocked to see the sea creature in the baby carriage. The moment, which starts at the 1:07 mark in the trailer, is brief, lasting just a few seconds.

The trailer was posted on May 24 and has already wracked up more than 2.4 million views. "Finding Dory" comes to theaters June 17.

Fans took to social media to react to the moment, with many lauding the apparent inclusivity. Some, however, took issue with the supposed LGBT representation in a Disney film. But the defenders were vocal on Twitter, with many pointing out the star of "Finding Dory," Ellen DeGeneres, who voices Dory, is a lesbian.

Fans may also find a lesbian couple in the upcoming "Frozen" sequel. There has been an online movement, urging Disney to make the film's lead character, Elsa, have a female love interest in the animate film's follow up. Of course, there has also been a counter movement, which wants Elsa to have a "charming prince."
